We founded the Helms Helps Foundation to assist non-profits serving the Las Vegas community. Each month, we highlight new organizations to raise awareness and funds for great causes.

May 2024

Vegas Valley Whole Health

Vegas Valley Whole Health provides programs to support individuals living with dementia-related illnesses and intellectual/developmental disabilities. These programs include Note-Ables, Advantage Works, and our Senior/Dementia/Alzheimer’s Program.

VVWH strives to inspire hope for clients and their caregivers by providing integrated clinical practices, creative solutions, and innovative approaches that contribute to each individual’s health and well-being. VVWH accomplishes its mission by incorporating cutting-edge therapies and unique interventions in each discipline through the creative power of music to create joy, comfort, and cognitive benefits.

The Helms Helps Alliance will be matching donations up to $20K in the month of May 2024.

Nevada Shakespeare Festival

The Nevada Shakespeare Festival is committed to igniting joy and fostering connection among Nevada's youth through the timeless and indispensable medium of live theater. In a world with perpetual social media onslaughts, divisive politics, increased violence in schools, and global uncertainty, young people across America grapple with profound challenges.

Providing children and youth with a safe, encouraging, imaginative, interactive, and enjoyable environment where they are exposed to live theater and it's profoundly transformative potential can have life-saving implications.

The Helms Helps Alliance will be matching donations up to $20K in the month of April 2024.

January 2024

Vegas Stronger

Vegas Stronger™ is a unique outcomes-focused non-profit focused on reversing the devastation caused to our community by the addiction epidemic and mental illness.

The Helms Helps Alliance will be matching donations up to $20K in the month of January 2024.

August 2023

Adventure Scouts

The Adventure Scouts has developed a unique approach to serve the IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) community. A key component of the program is to train volunteer Scout leaders, troops, and families to work with Scouts with IDD to foster acceptance, compassion, friendship, and inclusion. This new program is located at the Collaboration Center Campus at the newly developed, Helms Helps Hub. The Adventure Scouts includes Boys Town, Foster Kinship, Boy Scouts of So. NV, and the Collaboration Center Foundation.

The Helms Helps Alliance will be matching donations up to $40K ($10K for each Adventure Scout nonprofit member) in the month of August 2023. HHA will donate an additional $5K if the nonprofit exceeds their initial goal.

Nevada Partnership of

Homeless Youth

NPHY is the most comprehensive service provider for the thousands of young people experiencing homelessness in our community, providing access to life-changing services for homeless youth 24 hours a day virtually every street corner in Southern Nevada. NPHY wraparound programs stabilize young people’s lives, meeting their immediate needs and providing a safe, supportive environment and a path to self-sufficiency. NPHY individualized, holistic services empower young people to not only achieve long-term independence, but craft the futures they want for themselves.

Strengthening and complementing our high-quality direct services for homeless youth, NPHY is dedicated to advocating for the Vegas Valley’s homeless youth population and services as a leader in systems-level efforts to eliminate homelessness among Nevada’s youth.

The Helms Helps Foundation has launched a matching campaign for the month of May, matching every donation through May 31, 2023, up to $20,000.

Williams-Marshall Cares

The Williams-Marshall Cares Leadership Program envisions a future where the youth are empowered to unleash their potential, equipped with the skills and inspiration to become positive role models and community leaders. Their mission is to inspire and prepare youth athletes and future leaders for a lifelong commitment to service, integrity and community leadership.

The William-Marshall Cares Leadership Program is designed to educate, inspire, and activate students, giving them the tools they need to reach their life goals. WMC programs adhere 7 core values: hard work, dedication, loyalty, perseverance, integrity, honesty, and respect.

The Helms Helps Foundation has launched a matching campaign for the month of April, matching every donation through April 30, 2023, up to $20,000.

Project Marilyn

The mission of Project Marilyn is to work towards ending period poverty in Southern Nevada by providing free period supplies to those who need them.

Period poverty refers to the lack of period supplies, hygiene facilities and education surrounding menstruation. It also includes the element of shame and stigma surrounding menstruation. Project Marilyn aims for everyone to have a healthy and dignified period. PERIOD.

In honor of Women’s History Month, the Helms Helps Foundation is matching every donation through March 31, 2023, up to $20,000.

December 2022

 

Boys Town Nevada

Boys Town Nevada brings an innovative approach to child and family care to those in need in the Las Vegas area. The site's Continuum of services includes family-based services, prevent disruption in the home and facilitate reunification by ensuring that families have the supports and skills they need to create and maintain a safe, stable environment for their children.

The Helms Helps Foundation has launched a matching campaign for the month of December, matching every donation through December 31, 2022, up to $20,000.

Boy Scouts of America Las Vegas

Boy Scouts of America was founded on the premise of teaching boys moral and ethical values through an outdoor program which challenges and teaches them respect for nature, one another, and themselves. In 2018, we welcomed all youth into Scouting. Scouting has always represented the best in community, leadership, and service. It is our goal to provide Scouting to at-risk and financially disadvantaged boys and girls from diverse backgrounds, who could not otherwise afford or be able to participate in these programs in the Las Vegas Area Council through our ScoutReach program.

Armed Forces and Military Appreciation

Armed Forces and Military Veterans Appreciation Inc. (AFMVA), was established in 2014 to carry out a mission of support and assistance. AFMVA supports active military and veterans, their families, and children and youth whose parents are deployed.

The Helms Helps Foundation has launched a matching campaign for the month of October, matching every donation we receive through October 31, 2022, up to $20,000.

 

Silver State Health

Silver State Health Services is committed to providing quality, cost-effective care for our patients and community. We exist to expand affordable access to high-quality health care, mental health and behavioral health services for Las Vegas’ underserved and impoverished populations.

Opera Las Vegas

Through its various education programs including "Who's Afraid of Opera?" and "The Bremen Town Musicians", Opera Las Vegas teaches youth about opera, and demystifies how to appreciate the beauty of operatic singing in its many manifestations.

Opera Las Vegas has presented its education programs to more than 20,000 schoolchildren since the first schools tour in 2016!

The Helms Helps Foundation has launched a matching campaign for the month of June, matching every donation we receive through June 30, 2022, up to $20,000.

ALS Association Nevada Chapter

Leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support.

Green Our Planet

Green Our Planet’s mission is to increase student academic performance in STEM subjects and conserve the environment.

The Helms Helps Foundation partnered with Green Our Planet to raise funds for Green Our Planet’s School Garden STEM Program at 4 Las Vegas schools. The programs will provides hands-on STEM, nutrition and conservation education through the school garden to approximately 2,800 Las Vegas students.

Communities in Schools

Communities in Schools’ mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. In the last 30 years, Communities In Schools has become the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization. They have a unique model that positions a coordinator inside schools to assess needs and deliver necessary resources that remove barriers to success.

Notoriety Gives supports at-risk children and youth, promoting the healing power of the arts. Providing access to all forms of the performing arts, Notoriety Gives empowers children to utilize their talents and skills through programs that encompass self-expression, creativity, and confidence.

Communication Autism Resource (CAR)

The Helms Helps Foundation is partnering with Communication Autism Resources (C.A.R.) to help raise funds for "The Crew" in support of local underprivileged children in Las Vegas diagnosed with Autism and similar disabilities who struggle to communicate.

S.H.E.R.O

B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. Foundation’s mission is to provide resources needed to support, sustain and empower young girls and women under the age of 25 who have been abused, abandoned, and exploited. We accomplish this by bringing other agencies with similar missions together and being a resource center for these organizations.

Foster Kinship

Six percent of children in Nevada are growing up without either parent. Foster Kinship closes this gap by providing evidence-informed programs that strengthen caregivers' capacity to provide safe, permanent, and nurturing homes for vulnerable children. Foster Kinship helps keep home in the family.

Helping Hands of Vegas Valley

Helping Hands of Vegas Valley is a non-profit whose mission is to improve the quality of life for senior citizens and their families in order to maintain their dignity and independence. They offer a number of services we deem necessary in order to fulfill the immediate needs of our clients in Southern Nevada.

The Helms Helps Foundation is matching all donations up to $25k through Nov 30th.

HopeLink of Southern Nevada

HopeLink provides chances and opportunities through providing practical financial assistance, effective case management and imparting hope to the hopeless at crucial points of a life crisis. 

Nov 1-6 is the 30th annual HopeWeek celebrating the community. This year, the Helms Helps Foundation is matching all donations through Nov 6th.

Serving Our Kids Foundation

The Helms Helps Foundation has partnered with Serving Our Kids to raise funds for our Weekend & After-School Meals programs in support of local at-risk and homeless children dealing with food insecurity and chronic hunger in our community. Serving Our Kids serves more than 4,600 schoolchildren, in over 185 schools, each and every week.  

The Helms Helps Foundation has launched a matching campaign for the month of October, matching every donation we receive up to $20,000.

HELP of Southern Nevada

HELP of Southern Nevada assists families and individuals throughout Southern Nevada to overcome barriers and attain self-sufficiency through direct services, training and referral to community resources.

On Aug 29, HELP’s social services building caught fire. Sprinklers put out the fire; however, there is now smoke and water damage, with two departments displaced, to HELP’s other buildings, or working from home.

Give to the Repair and Renovation Fund to rebuild the social services building and reach more of our community. Each donation will be matched by the Helms Helps Foundation, up to $10,000.

Future Smiles is determined to end oral pain and suffering among Nevada’s neediest children and their families by partnering with the community to deliver essential education, prevention, and restorative services.

The Just One Project is Nevada’s largest volunteer organization and mobile food market, combating food insecurity through our Pop Up & Give Mobile Food Market, Community Market, and Market 2 You grocery delivery program. Together we can build a stronger and healthier community.
