Terry Helms | President
Entrepreneur Terry Helms founded the Helms Helps Foundation to give back to the Southern Nevada community he’s called home for over 35 years. After a successful career in real estate investment, Terry wanted to create something that would directly support the Las Vegas community he loves. When he’s not helping local nonprofits, you can find him behind a camera or exploring the ocean as an avid scuba diver.

Eliza Gerland | Vice President
With over a decade of experience leading marketing teams in mission-driven organizations, Eliza is passionate about helping nonprofits expand their reach and create meaningful impact across Southern Nevada. As Vice President of the Helms Helps Foundation, she provides strategic direction and marketing insight to support both our partners and our continued growth. (Fun fact: Terry is her dad!)

Kristin Martin | Program Director
With extensive experience in the Las Vegas nonprofit sector, Kristin brings a deep understanding of community engagement and collaboration across Southern Nevada. A former Director at Station Casinos and consultant for Noah’s Animal House Foundation, she is passionate about supporting local organizations that strengthen and uplift the Las Vegas community.

We consider several key factors when selecting nonprofits for our matching campaigns:
Established track record: The nonprofit must be at least three years old.
Alignment with our pillars: Our focus areas include food, shelter, education, and basic human needs.
Mission fit: The organization should support our overarching mission: ensuring every Las Vegas resident has access to the dignity, support, and opportunity they deserve.
Size: We prioritize small nonprofits to maximize the impact of our support.

The Helms Helps Alliance is a coalition of philanthropists dedicated to doubling their impact in the Southern Nevada community.
Every nonprofit that successfully completes an initial Helms Helps Foundation Matching Campaign is invited to run a second campaign—funded directly through the Helms Helps Alliance pool. And when a nonprofit surpasses its goal, Helms Helps Foundation contributes an additional $5,000 bonus donation!

We never hold or manage your funds directly. Through our partnership with Greater Horizons, your contribution to the Alliance is managed in a donor-advised fund and distributed directly to the nonprofit.
